hmmm sandwiches

I dont know why I love sandwiches so much
but I do.
I could eat them like three times a day.
Seriously. I stopped eating them about 2 weeks
ago and I lost 5 lbs.

Right now Im trying to distract myself from
running across the street to get one.

My favorite lately, is when I make them in my foreman
with cheese and it gets all gooey.

I love sandwiches. YUM.

Idiot.

Vegas or Bust

I'm scrambling a bit at work as I prepare to leave for Las Vegas on Monday for a week. I plan to spend a couple days with my family out there and then a wild and crazy weekend with the girls.

Weather.com says its going to be about 99' and sunny the entire time i'm there which i'm actually excited about. I plan on returning to NYC as dark as my israeli/italian roots will allow.

Most people either love or hate Vegas. There is no in between. As someone who has visited Vegas at least twice a year for the past 15 years, I do admit its a bit much. I think if you're going for the sole reason of partying you really only need 3-4 days max.

But contrary to popular belief, there are things to do in Vegas other then drink, gamble and party. For instance, there's the Grand Canyon and horse back riding in Red Rock Canyon. Both fun options in my opinion. It's also not a long drive from LA.

I think the main lure of Vegas is that its really hard not to have a good time.

No matter who you are and what you do it is a great vacation destination.
And since most people are out there to kick back, everyone is super relaxed, laidback and fun.

And I fully intend on being one of those people.

Uma!

I was greeted this morning with yet another movie filming
on my block. This time, it was Uma Thurman on a bike filming "Motherhood."

Uma is playing a mother of two who is busy prepping for her daughter’s sixth birthday. Apparently, Minnie Driver is also in the film, who to be honest, I would much rather have seen.

Sadly, I could only watch a few moments as I was running late to work as usual. Her hair was really messy and she was in a fairly boring dress for the scene so I couldn't get the full Uma experience.

The funniest thing about this particular sighting was that the scene was being filmed a block away from Ethan Hawke's house. I have had many an Ethan sighting, with and without
his very pregnant girlfriend who happened to be his kids former nanny.

I wonder if Uma was able to put that all behind her? You know she probably
still gives the nanny the stank eye. I would.

Gas is how much?!

Occasionally, in the past 3 years of city living, there have been times when I've missed having a car.

Generally this happens on the days when I don't want to take an hour bus ride from port authority to go visit my mom or when I have several bags of groceries to carry home.

However, after spending some time in NJ this weekend with my peeps who have cars, I will never feel that way again.

The gas prices are shocking! $3.72!!! That is just insane. When it costs over $50 to fill up a Honda accord, something is just wrong. I remember filling up my mom's nissan altima in high school for $10.

Everywhere I went this weekend, this was a huge topic of conversation. The general consesus is that its going to get a lot worse and never better. Thoughts??

It must sound as if I just awoke from a 10 year coma, but I feel pretty removed from the gas situation living in NYC sans car.

Meanwhile, there are still people out there buying these huge SVU's that must be well over $100 to fill up. What is the point people?!

My encounter with CZJ

So last night, on my walk home from diner in the west village
there was a huge movie set filming a block from my apt.
I had learned that this was the Catherine Zeta Jones
movie "The Rebound."

Its not uncommon for movies to film around my apt. In fact,
last summer Law and Order: Criminal Intent's location scout came knocking
and asked to use my apt to film a scene. It proved to be a lot more
inconvenient and so it didn't happen but nevertheless it was nice to be
asked.

But actually seeing CZJ in the flesh was pretty cool, she's not one
of the celebrities I generally see just casually walking around town.
And honestly, one of the best sightings ever. She is STUNNING.

She was filming a scene with this dude, who I learned from IMDB
is John Schneider, and he was standing next to this port o' potty
saying something, and he was pretending to pee.
And literally,
as he was saying his lines, he was staring right at my face. Very cool.

So keep that in mind, when you see the movie.

CZJ was wearing some sort of pink cashmina and a skirt suit of some sort.
Again, Gorgeous but super skinny. I didn't take her for a super skinny woman,
but i guess they all are.

I unfortunately couldn't get a good photo with my phone. Next time.

Have an Awesome Memorial Day Weekend!

The song of the summer. . . .

Have you ever played out a song to the point that you've listened
to the same song all the way to work and all the way home?

I'm currently doing that with my new favorite song ever:
Lady Gaga - Just dance

I love it, and i can't get enough of it.
I've already declared it the song of the summer to my friends.

Oh and im listening to it right now at work... as there's no
work to be done on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend.

Go Ellen!

He doesn't know where my rebate is either.

Where the F is my stimulus

So i officially hate the IRS.

Oh and I hate Bush, but thats a given.
Anyway, i was supposed to get my $600 on May 9th - direct deposit.

Its now two weeks later and still no sign of the money.
There's this website they keep referring you to, thats supposed to
"track" your money, but of course, mine has no records available.
maybe you'll have better luck: https://sa2.www4.irs.gov/irfof/IRServlet?app=IRACTC

So of course like an idiot, im counting on this money to take to vegas with me.

Vegas happens in two weeks by the way.

The Crazies

I seriously must see like 5-10 certifiable crazy people per day. Is that normal?
Mostly, id have to say, they reside in the mid-town area, or the subway.
Before I lived in NYC, and would just come to visit friends, they would tell me all these crazy ass stories about the crazies they encountered. I really thought most of the stories were just funny exaggerations, boy was i wrong.

Generally, I find the crazies pretty harmless, disturbing but harmless nevertheless.

However, this passed Saturday afternoon, as I was walking home on 10th avenue, this one particular crazy was standing about 10 feet ahead of me. Just staring me down. So as I am approaching, he starts to lift his shirt and slowly is going to pull something out. Now, honestly, i thought this was the end of me... cause he purposely made it look like he was pulling out a gun or a knife.
But what is it? A f*cking flat little basket, tucked in his jeans. omg i almost had a heart attack. And then he starts screaming at me "Its not for sale, its not for sale!" ugh

Back and still in west chelsea

Ha well
last summer it seems I tried to make this blog work, well my partner in crime "E" and I. However,
we obviously got distracted.

I may try and pull her in here eventually but for now, i figure I will try this on my own.

God, last summer seems like ages ago, and it was in all honesty. I had just moved into an apt in West Chelsea last May and now, over a year later, still there.

I love the neighborhood, lalalalala - love. But, just like ever other cool neighborhood in Manhattan, its becoming over run with luxury high rises and stores I cant afford.

Like seriously, there is no way you can keep up, no way at all.

A couple weeks ago, they actually had this rally to try and save a string of stores on 9th avenue. But it doesnt seem like thats going to work.

I personally dont believe we need another Starbucks, Chase ATM, or Rite Aid in the hood. I dont live and pay what i pay to live between two duane reade's.

Anyhoo, other that THAT, the area is fab. Especially in the summer when im so close to the water, west village and other fun places.

OK, honest attempt to revive this blog - here we go:)
